Basic Requirements

Role Responsibilities
  • Electrical architecture and design, product requirements, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, and documentation.
  • PCB schematic design and layout, identify design tools.
  • Work with and identify vendors for PCB manufacture and quality control.
  • PCB debugging, troubleshooting, confidence, acceptance and qualification testing.
  • Integration, full satellite integrated testing, on-orbit operations support, and data review
  • Drive improvements in reliability and capabilities while minimizing cost and schedule
  • Design a power system compatible with radar payload while meeting the allocated power budget.
  • Work with vendors and identify power components to improve satellite and radar performance.
  • Power subsystem design and prototyping, schematic capture, prototype bring-up and debugging, hardware bug tracking, functional verification, and signal characterization.
  • Work with software team to achieve mission control and data collection requirements

 

Required Skills & Competencies
  • Building, testing, and launching of CubeSats or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of satellite power and electrical systems
  • Experience with hands on testing, troubleshooting and debugging electronics
  • Experience designing and implementing mixed-signal circuit boards from concept through production using processors, FPGAs, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, operational amplifiers, analog to digital and digital to analog converters, and power supply components
  • Experience designing electrical hardware from concept through production; strong emphasis on full life cycle development
  • Software development for microcontrollers or low-level software
  • Soldering and/or circuit assembly experience
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications
  • Strong understanding of classical dynamics, orbital mechanics, and satellite systems

Lunasonde is currently building out our digital design team. As an FPGA Design Engineer, you will focus on communication system blocks as part of complex ASIC and FPGA Soc products and will participate in numerous exciting and challenging activities in a fast-moving design environment.

A successful FPGA Design Engineer will have strong technical and analytical skills and be comfortable working and solving problems independently as well as collaboratively within a team. We look for engineers with initiative, persistence, curiosity, and good communication skills.

Role Responsibilities
  • Design, implement and integrate radio unit protocol layers from source models, along with block level micro-architecture design, coding, simulation, and documentation.
  • Take responsibility for resource/power optimization and design trade-off analysis, as well as block and chip level synthesis and timing closure.
  • Provide FPGA bring-up and system validation support.
  • Assume ownership of block level verifications, and participate in the full chip verification using UVM and/or system Verilog
  • Translate models written in either C/C++, MATLAB, or Python
  • Script and automate workflows
  • Be an active participant in hardware bringup and some hardware validation
Required Skills & Competencies
  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other engineering discipline, M. S. a Plus
  • 4+ years of experience with FPGA development software
  • 3+ years of experience in Verilog, SystemVerilog, or other HDLs
  • 2+ years of experience in scripting and programming languages in two or more of the following: MATLAB, Python, C/C++, Perl, Tel, Make, Bash

Responsibilities
  • Use knowledge of signal processing, wave propagation, and numerical optimization to develop and test high-end algorithms, sequences, or programs with predefined geophysical or engineering content
  • Work closely with engineers on the development, deployment, and improvement of satellite technology
  • Work closely with data scientist on data processing
  • Develop technical and cost approaches for proposals
  • Prepare and/or review work plans for geophysical surveys via satellite
  • Apply established procedures and existing computer programs for quality assurance and quality control of geophysical data

General Objectives

The Exploration Geologist will support the Geological Exploration team at the company’s Arizona projects. The essential duties of the role include preparation, handling, and examination of diamond drill core or RC chips for geotechnical, geological, and analytical parameters. Required duties also will include core sample handling/collection, including safely lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. A significant portion of time will also be dedicated to geologic logging of drill core or RC chips (including identifying and describing lithologic, alteration, structure, and mineralized characteristic of rock); this will be performed by proficiently recording data utilizing computer devices and or/paper logs. Other field or warehouse-based activities include site review, and work in and around core drilling machines and excavation equipment, and possible time at an active mining site. High regard for safety is utmost.

 

Key Areas of Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepare sampling and drill core materials for collection and assist geologic team with sample handling and collection of technical information.
  • Catalog and track progress of samples and drill core from collection to submission of samples to analytical laboratories or to sample storage.
  • Utilize company provided data collection devices (learning software) for data control.
  • Collection of geotechnical data from samples and/or rock material, as per parameters established procedures (i.e rock quality designation and recovery).
  • Collection of geological data (core logging; lithology, alteration, mineralization, sample designation).
  • Collection of rock chip, soil, or other raw geological media samples, including acquisition at remote locations (hiking).
  • Photography of core or other samples.
  • Split or mechanized saw cut core, bag core, or other rock material samples for preparation of analytical submission.
  • Prepare, sort, organize samples for archive storage or disposal.
  • Maintain quality assurance / quality control procedures.
  • Maintain and repair equipment used in sampling and field activities.
  • Maintain housekeeping of work areas, vehicles, and tools.
  • Safety & Environmental: Responsible and accountable for the performance, and compliance of work site safety, environmental policies, and other communicated company-translated procedures,
  • Participate in Planned General Inspections, training, or other as suggested,
  • Comply with safety and environmental requirements and guidelines.

  • This role requires interaction with other department employees and supervisors, and occasionally with vendors/contractors to aid service and support; problem resolution/self-management may be needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Skill Requirements
  • Degree in Geology, Economic Geology or closely related from an accredited University.
  • Experience in Porphyry Copper Deposits and Logging
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with common word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software
  • Physical ability to: manage up to 50 lbs. lifting, walk/hike on uneven or rough terrain, work outdoors under natural conditions in all seasons, flexibility in work period frequency or duration (up 10 hours daily). 
  • Ability to drive 4 x 4 vehicle (desired)
  • Ability to provide own transportation to and from work site (normal road conditions)
